Name: Eiffel Tower

 

The Eiffel Tower was built as a result of the International Exhibition of Paris or the Paris Exposition of 1889. The International Exhibition of France was done in order to commemoration the 100 year anniversary of the French Revolution. The Prince of Wales, King Edward VII, opened the tower after considering the 700 proposed designs. 

Gustav Eiffel's design was chosen but 300 petioners opposed its construction. Nevertheless, the Eiffel Tower was built in 1889 after being designed in 1884. Construction began in 1887 until 1889. The tower was used as a key place in Paris to measure the wind speed. Also, Eiffel encouraged many scientific experiments to take place on the Eiffel Tower such as Foucault's giant pendulum.

There is a exhibition at the first floor where they show a short movie at the Gustave Eiffel and the 1889-year world exhibition. It was not meant that this tower should be neither permanent nor the symbol of Paris. It was with the radio transmission it got a raison d'être. 

This 324 meters high tower, who ones was despised, is today the queen among the monuments of Paris. The face-lift, which the tower was given related to its 100 years day, was coincides with the new contract.
